Privacy Policy

When you register we collect your name, email, and the role you choose (student, parent, instructor, or staff). Depending on your program we may also collect a phone number, parental email (for COPPA consent), course performance data, attendance, submissions, and usage logs. Payment details are processed by Stripe and PayPal; we never store full card numbers.

We use your information to operate the platform: deliver courses, record attendance and grades, issue certificates, send account and consent emails, enforce access controls, and improve our services. Parent-linked accounts may view their child's progress and participation.

We obtain consent before collecting certain data and honor requests to withdraw consent. For users under 13 we require verified parental consent; a parent can review, cancel, or request deletion of their child's data at any time. For users in the EEA, our lawful bases include consent, contract performance, and legitimate interest.

Where you are a school, district, or educational institution using EMIT Center, student education records are treated in accordance with FERPA. We disclose records only to authorized staff, to the student or their parent(s), and as required by law. Administrative access to education records is logged.

You can download a portable copy of your personal data from your privacy settings (JSON or CSV) at any time. You may also request permanent deletion of your account and associated data. A 30-day grace period applies and you may cancel the request during that window. Deletion is irreversible once completed.

We do not sell personal data. Data is shared only with service providers that help us operate the platform (hosting, email delivery, payment processing) under appropriate agreements, or when required by law.

Passwords are stored using strong one-way hashing, sessions are secured, and access to sensitive records is logged and reviewed. Communications with the platform are protected in transit. No data transmission is guaranteed to be 100% secure.

We retain data as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services and meet legal obligations. Audit logs are automatically purged after a retention period. Account deletion removes your personal records.

You may access, correct, export, or delete your data as described above, and raise questions or complaints with us or your local data-protection authority. We may update this policy; material changes will be posted here.
